ILFORD Advocate World-Wide Survey

This survey of the Ilford Advocate camera is being organised by David Gardner, a member of the Photographic Collectors Club of Gt. Britain (PCCGB); Membership No.796. David recently discovered that Advocates have a serial number when one was overhauled by a repairer. On opening the camera & turning it upside down, the number can be seen scratched into the blackened body casting near the tripod bush and often starts 1919-.

David is hoping to establish how many of this lovely little camera were made, and to get an idea of how many specialist cameras were produced, based upon the Advocate body. If you have an Advocate, please complete the following questionnaire and then press the 'Submit' button below.

  Many thanks for taking part
On 1st October 2008, David Gardner e-mailed a respondent to say:
"Many thanks for the information on your Advocate. I now have data on almost 150, which helps me to draw conclusions about production numbers and design changes. A nice camera for display and use - I used one at my wedding in 2001!"
